Altum Attains ISO 27001 Certification

Certification to the ISO 27001 standard is recognized worldwide that an organization’s information management system is aligned with information security best practices.

RESTON, Va., May 12, 2022 – Altum, Inc., the maker of ProposalCentral, today announced that it has attained ISO 27001:2013 certification for its Information Security Management System (ISMS), further demonstrating the company’s commitment to following global best practices when it comes to securing and protecting corporate data.

The rigorous certification process, which took more than a year to complete, required Altum to document and follow a comprehensive framework for information security, focusing on risk mitigation, staff training, measurement and monitoring, continuous improvement, and more.

“We’re pleased to achieve ISO 27001 certification as part of our ongoing commitment to following best practices for information security management,” said Steve Pinchotti, CEO at Altum. “Our mission of connecting the research grants ecosystem on one platform depends on the integrity of our data. Protecting that data on behalf of our customers and partners is of utmost importance.”

The ISO 27001 framework helps organizations establish, implement, operate, monitor, review, maintain and continually improve their information management systems. ISO 27001’s best-practice approach helps organizations manage their information security by addressing people, processes, and technology.

These standards enable organizations of all types to manage critical security assets, such as intellectual property, employee and financial data, and others. This also enables organizations to protect critical information entrusted to them by third parties.

To maintain IS0 27001, organizations are required to go through an annual certification process. “Altum has established a methodical testing and review process to ensure it remains compliant, even as the controls change over time,” Mr. Pinchotti said.
