After completing a thorough analysis of multiple vendors, the Cancer Research Society selected Altum’s ProposalCentral.
Since 1945, the Cancer Research Society (CRS), a Canadian non-profit organization, has been dedicated to fund research into all types of cancer to prevent, detect and treat this disease. With its devoted staff and over $300 million awarded to fundamental research in the last 75 years, CRS is a committed partner to the research community. While the technology and science that CRS funds has evolved exponentially over this period, many of the back-office processes and tools have not kept up.
When Dajan O’Donnell joined the Society in 2020 as Director of Scientific Affairs and Partnerships, he was drawn to the organization by its mission and people. As he got to know the team, systems and processes, it became clear to him that an additional step could be taken towards going more digital. Annually, over 400 applications are received and managed manually by CRS. Implementing an online grant management solution was the logical next step to improve these processes and the overall experience for applicants and reviewers.
With greater visibility into our researchers’ work we will have the ability to better share and promote the impact of our funding.

After completing a thorough analysis of multiple vendors, CRS selected Altum’s ProposalCentral for three primary reasons:
By utilizing a single system to track researchers, budgets, and finances from application to award, CRS is confident that ProposalCentral will help streamline its grants management process while also improving its ability to track and measure outcomes.
Altum is inclined to listen to customers. And they are constantly innovating and making updates, which are included in the yearly fee.
