Altum’s 2021 – Year in Review

As the world continues to weave its way through the pandemic, we are proud of what we accomplished as a team and even more proud of what our customers continue to accomplish as pioneers in all areas of science. As an industry, we continue to show what’s possible when we collaborate, openly share ideas and innovation, and support one another.  Here are some highlights from the year gone by — achievements made possible only through the support of our incredible customers, partners, and users.

Record Business Growth

With more funders on the platform than ever before, revenue growth grew faster than it has in company history. We are reinvesting nearly 100% of profit into innovation, while allocating a percentage to corporate philanthropy.

More than 50,000 new users join ProposalCentral

Registered users on our flagship platform grew from 590,000 to over 640,000 in the last year.

Total Awarded Volume Eclipses $23 Billion

More than $1.5B in new awards were made on ProposalCentral in 2021, bringing the cumulative total of grants made on the platform to over $23 billion.

Record ORCID Adoption

74% of Applicants on ProposalCentral now have/use an ORCID ID. That’s up from 67% in 2020.

Crossref Adoption

Altum is one of four Crossref sponsoring organizations in the Americas. And 50% of funders getting grant DOIs with Crossref are on ProposalCentral and many have already registered their grant DOIs.

Massive Growth in Publications

With a big jump in ORCID and Crossref adoption, we’ve seen more than 1.1 Million publications associated with researchers added to ProposalCentral in 2021. That’s a 300% increase year over year.

Launch of Altum Insights

In Q1 2021, we launched Altum Insights, empowering customers with the ability to visualize the connections between their grants and research outcomes.

New customers on ProposalCentral

We are thrilled to have welcomed many new funders from a variety of scientific research areas to the ProposalCentral platform including The Human Frontiers Science Program, Stem Cell Network, WIOMSA, and the Lung Cancer Research Foundation.

Altum Awards College Scholarships

We were delighted to recognize 10 winners of the Altum Scholarship Program to local high school students of color. These students exemplify academic excellence and leadership.

Altum Named an NVTC Tech 100 Honoree

For the second consecutive year, Altum was recognized as one of the most innovative technology companies in the greater Washington, DC area.
